Our Faves: Best All You Can Eat (AYCE) Restaurants in Cascais

We are massive fans of All You Can Eat (AYCE) restaurants in this family.

While not everyone in our extended family is a fan - luckily my brother and his husband are 100% on board with our obsession with this type of restaurant, so we end up dragging them along with us. Typically after we've tried the restaurants ourselves, to make sure they're worth it.

There are a number of AYCE restaurants in Cascais that always keep us coming back, and a few different ones we go to if we're in the mood to switch things up.

There's a really decent variety insofar as the types of restaurants that offer All You Can Eat menus as well - from sushi to Brazilian BBQ. Some of these have menus that are exclusively All You Can Eat (unless you're ordering takeaway) and some of these have menus that have "a la carte" as we called it in Canada - or buy what you like, as well as All You Can Eat as an option.

In any case, I'm going to get to listing my favourites, as hopefully if you're here for some good ideas, you'll find at least one to your liking in my list!

The Best: Our Favourite All You Can Eat Restaurants in Cascais

1. Sushi Come AYCE Sushi Restaurant

This one has got to be our top pick of any AYCE restaurant, let alone any sushi/Asian food themed AYCE restaurant.

The quality of the food is really something considering it's all you can eat. Absolutely not the highest tier of quality - but you would never expect that from an AYCE place. That being said, it's always good.

It has a really decent amount of variety in terms of the types of sushi you can get, has a few distinctly delicious maki options (get the dragon roll - highly recommend!), and it has a whole bunch of side dishes that are delicious as well.

The tempura shrimp, the breaded chicken, the duck, and the pecking chicken are some of my favourite sides to get, and I always get a mix of sushi and meat here.

Salmon sushi is usually quite fresh and while sometimes the butterfish is hit or miss for me (I'm not much of a fan of tuna but that can also be hit or miss) it's usually a solid win.

I also really like the ambiance. Even when it's crowded, it's still a nice vibe.

Overall, I've never been disappointed or let down by my visit here. Highly recommend. Have a look at my in-depth review of this place here.

2. Fogo de Chão AYCE Brazilian Steakhouse

This is a recent discovery, made on Valentine's day earlier this year, if you believe it. Sushi Come was booked solid for hours (no we didn't make a reservation, but we didn't intend to go out and were definitely not planning on celebrating Valentine's, just had a hankering for some AYCE that day).

We'd been meaning to try Fogo de Chao for ages before, having passed it a zillion times in the street, but luckily we found our way in and they happened to still have a spot left for myself and my husband Thomas - because the moment we were seated a queue/line started developing that ran so far it was to the street outside after we got in.

This place has a bunch of different things in a buffet - and you can choose to pay for just that as an option - or you can pay extra for special meats that are brought to the table.

Yes, it's worth paying the extra. Yes, there are two tiers of special meats, and we went for the highest. Yes, we would do that each time - and we did do it again when this restaurant moved to be above the Auchan in town and we brought my brother and his husband.

Is it good? Absolutely. Is it pricey - also yes. But it's worth it, if you're a fan of meat.

Just beware that your eyes will be bigger than your stomach, and you may turn out, like me, to be incapable of eating all that you'd like (I find meat so filling!).

I can usually outeat Thomas at an AYCE sushi restaurant, but he absolutely outdoes me with his eyes closed here. And no, I can't move for like a day after visiting here, so definitely don't schedule anything to do afterward.

3. Maria Pimenta (Ask for AYCE Menu!)

I'm pretty sure Maria Pimenta has an AYCE menu as well as a regular one. We've only ever done the all you can eat, however.

It's got a buffet with a whole bunch of variety in it. From cheese and meats to salads and meals like beef stroganoff and even curries as well sometimes (from what I remember!).

It's had different things each time we've gone, although the staples remain the same, and if you love variety and want a place everyone in your party can find something they like, this is a solid bet.

4. Yukai Sushi Restaurant (Ask for AYCE Menu!)

The only other AYCE sushi I'd go to in Cascais is Yukai Sushi Restaurant, although if I'm honest, most of the time we end up going to Sushi Come. Still, it's nice to have a second option.

They do have a regular menu as well as an all you can eat menu, so be sure to ask for an AYCE menu. They don't have a crazy amount of seating, so you might want to make reservations, but this place is nice, and a cozy place to hang out on a date, in my opinion.

We've had like 99% great experiences here, but one time they made the rice a bit too heavy (not sure if it was overcooked or something along those lines) and we haven't gone back quite so often since. It's also got less variety than Sushi Come and is only sushi/maki with no meat or anything along those lines as options. So we prefer Sushi Come most days. Still very good, however!

5. O Segredo AYCE Brazilian Picanha

All you can eat Brazilian Picanha in all it's glory, and super great for what it is.

Very good value, in my opinion, and you get a choice of how cooked you want the meat to be at the start of the meal when you're seated.

Then you'll get some salad, some rice, some beans on your table (they'll change these out if/when they get eaten/too cold), and you'll get some sausages as well as bread if you ask for the couverte (we usually go for it, they're pretty tasty!).

Then the whole night long they just keep bringing you meat after meat until you call it quits and give up.

Highly recommend asking for the meat to be more well done than you believe you'll need, as asking for "rare" is probably raw and asking for "well done" is probably medium. That kind of thing. The meat typically gets less and less cooked the longer we stay as they're trying to get things out to customers, but this has never bothered me.

Super duper tasty, super duper good value. Just - for the love of god - get a reservation if you really want to go to this place, or if you're going to risk having no reservation, make sure you're there just as they open, as this restaurant is typically jam-packed.

That's about it for now, but I'll definitely update this list if I find any more gems!

Always on the look out for more incredible all you can eat restaurants, and there will always be room on a list like this for great AYCE in Cascais!
