Meat Lover? 4 Excellent Restaurants to Try in Cascais
by Elise Xavier
Listen, we all know why you're here. You love meat. Maybe there's also a person or two (or ten!) in your life who you're planning on going out to a restaurant in Cascais with who also love meat (even if it's not as much as you) and you'd like to have a peek at which recommendations I have in store for you to see if they're up your alley.
I'm going to do a little rundown of each of the options for restaurants I've recommended so you can get an idea of whether or not you'd be interested in visiting. And while they're not in order of my personal favourites (I get into why later in this article), they're definitely all worth visiting.
In terms of value, O Segredo is definitely #1 on this list, but absolutely all of them are worth the price, in my opinion. Especially the first option.
But I'm getting way ahead of myself already, so let's just start with the list...
The Picks: Our Favourite Restaurant Recommendations in Cascais for Meat Lovers

1. Fogo de Chão AYCE Brazilian Steakhouse
This restaurant 100% needs to be in spot #1. It has incredible cuts of meat, a plethora of varieties of them, and the waiters come around with the slabs of these massive slabs of perfectly cooked meat, sawing off as much or little as you want of them for you, then when they start to cool a little too much, hop back in the kitchen to make sure they are warm again.
Oh. And it's all you can eat.
I would recommend getting the highest level of AYCE (they have cheaper versions where you don't get the special, incredible cuts, but who wants that?). I would recommend being ready for an absolute treat.
The first few times I came here, I hated it. Not because the meat wasn't excellent (it's incredible!), but because it gave me a food coma and I could practically feel my blood pressure rising. That didn't bother my husband or my brother, but it certainly bothered me.
Well one time a friend of ours came over from the UK, and we visited this place, and she told me to try the pineapple with it (which is a delicious combination mind you) - somehow that made all the difference to my digestion as I was able to eat so much more than before, all while staying relatively non-dizzy/lightheaded from all the meat I was eating, incredible!
Since going back, I've had plenty more pineapple with my meat and I can attest to the fact that it helps so much more than I can express, so definitely give that a try if you're struggling to keep up as much as you'd like to.
We've gone back here with a number of meat lovers. It's been a smash hit every single time.
To the point where friends of ours who are complete foodies and obsessed with all different types of food will sacrifice going out to try different restaurants in Cascais on their trips back here just to make sure they can have at least one visit here before they are done their trip. Yes, it's that good.
If you try only one recommendation I make as a food lover, let it be this one. I don't think it's possible for you to regret it.

2. O Segredo AYCE Brazilian Picanha
Another incredible all you can eat restaurant that's sure to make any meat lover stupid content with their meal.
This restaurant is not about variety. You get the same food sent to your table as many times as you'd like - perfectly cooked potatoes with the most incredible mayo dip, delicious Brazilian black beans, rice on the side, and a perfectly scrumptious healthy salad to offset all the other decadence, and of course, the main course - Brazilian Picanha steaks that they'll keep coming as long as you'd like.
They do ask at the start of the meal how cooked you'd like the steaks to be. Be forewarned - they often undercook these, so if you like your steaks on the American medium side, you might want to err on the side of caution and ask for them to be well done. They also tend to get a little less cooked as the kitchen starts getting busier with new customers (this place fills up quick!), but it's all worth it if you ask me.
So. Tasty. So. Affordable. Love it to bits.

3. La Brasserie de L'Entrecote
I struggled to not put this one in spot #2 on the list because I love this restaurant's food so much, but I understand that if you're a true meat-lover, you're probably going to need to prefer O Segredo just marginally above La Brasserie de L'Entrecote, especially considering this one is not all you can eat, so I settled for putting it as the third recommendation.
Divine. Absolutely divine meat. Entrecote of course. And the absolute most flawless sauce on top. Cooked to perfection. With the most perfectly Frenched of fries, very well executed.
No, there is nothing else you can order (you do get a delicious salad to start and can opt in to the starters (which are called "couverte" in Portugal, just thought I'd mention in case!), which is an oh-so-tasty cheeseboard with bread and jam.
The fact that they have literally one option doesn't matter, however, because that option is the ultimate perfection. Looks good? Go try it, for sure. Just don't take your vegetarian friends with you.

4. Os Prazeres da Carne
Listen I LOVE meat, but I'm quite honestly not the biggest fan of ordering steak in restaurants because I am spoiled by having a husband who can perfectly grill a steak for me at home.
That's the only reason this restaurant isn't higher up on the list, because their steaks are - objectively - delightful.
I do like this restaurant's food. I just don't think it can usurp any of the previous restaurant recommendations. That being said, if you love steaks, aren't fussed about having all the steaks you can possibly eat in just one sitting, want a healthy, delicious, meat-lover's meal out, this for sure hits the spot.

Always on the lookout for more incredible restaurants, so hopefully I find a number more of these in the future. But for now, these are my top 4 recommendations for restaurants in Cascais for anyone who needs meat to be the main feature of the meal.
Looking forward to finding more!
